Bitumen and heavy fuel oil solidify or thicken when they cool, so they travel in insulated tankers with heating systems that hold the product at pumping temperature from the terminal to your plant. The equipment we deploy is built for high-temperature product, with insulated shells, heating coils or burners, and discharge pumps rated for viscous cargo.
Typical cargo
- Paving-grade and polymer-modified bitumen
- Heavy fuel oil and marine residual fuels
- Bitumen emulsions and cutbacks
- Waxes and other products that need temperature control
How we deploy it
We confirm the loading temperature and the minimum discharge temperature with you, then match the tanker’s insulation and heating to the transit time and the season. Product temperature is recorded at loading and at delivery. Hot bitumen and heavy fuel oil are classified for transport at elevated temperature, so the driver holds an ADR certificate and the vehicle carries the elevated-temperature marking and the correct transport documents.
