Curtain-Sided & Flatbed Trailers

Red curtain-sided semi-trailer behind a Volvo FH tractor unit

Curtain-sided and flatbed trailers carry the packaged side of the petroleum business: drums, IBCs, pails and pallets of lubricants, greases, additives and base oils. Curtain-siders load from the side by forklift and keep cargo dry. Flatbeds take IBC frames, oversized packages and mixed loads that need crane or top access.

Typical cargo

  • Drummed lubricants, base oils and greases
  • IBCs of additives and blending components
  • Palletised pails and cartons of packaged product
  • Empty packaging returns and terminal spares

How we deploy it

Packaged petroleum is often classified as dangerous goods, so we check the UN packaging marks, labels and segregation before loading and prepare the ADR transport document alongside the CMR. Loads are strapped and, where needed, blocked to the trailer bed, with the load plan recorded. We consolidate part loads into full trailers where it lowers your cost, and run cross-border under T1 or e-AD where the customs status requires it.
